I've always liked the "flip book" design, but it is also rather cumbersome to maintain. Well, actually not, it's just Indesign page layout and then export to PDF, convert to JPG. But I've always really liked the idea of a web version, like an article that is styled as a notebook but continuous. While it looses some of the "Book" quality, it has great overview and other possibilities.
